Al wordt het woord ‘duurzaamheid’ in de wereld van inkoop veel gebruikt, het is niet altijd even duidelijk wat we er precies onder moeten verstaan. Het Brundtland Report (WCED, 1987) gebruikt als definitie: ‘Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs’.
