Regie op procurement met praktische basis

News 3 minutes 28 August 2025

In the world of procurement, it has long since stopped being about securing the lowest price. As a procurement professional, you are a process facilitator, a strategic adviser and a discussion partner for senior management. To give procurement professionals a solid foundation for this role, the Nevi 1 Private Sector programme was developed — fully practice‑oriented and designed to equip you for real‑world impact.

Sabine Keizer‑Roomer, lecturer for the Nevi 1 Private Sector programme, sees this as one of the programme’s greatest strengths. “You learn the theory behind procurement and immediately put it into practice. It means you can apply what you’ve learned in your own work the very next day.”

Clear learning path

The programme consists of three modules that build on each other in a logical way. The first module, Procurement Basics, starts with a clear overview of the procurement process. Participants learn how the sourcing cycle is structured and which steps — and considerations — play a role. The module concludes with a digital exam to demonstrate that the fundamental principles of the procurement profession are understood.

Communication and professional development take centre stage in the module Negotiation and Development. Negotiation is an essential part of procurement, and in this phase of the programme participants learn how to negotiate effectively and responsibly. Sabine explains: “Every procurement professional has to negotiate at some point. In this module, you learn how to approach it and how you can continue to grow in your role.”

After completing the module Procurement in Practice, the Nevi 1 Private Sector programme is complete. In this module, participants work together through a full procurement process based on real‑life cases. The assignments they complete are added to their personal portfolio to demonstrate that they can apply the procurement process from start to finish in their own work.

Practice at the core

Throughout the programme, day‑to‑day practice is central. The lessons are interactive and highly practical. Sabine explains: “You’ll work hands‑on with assignments, cases and examples from your own job. This allows you to apply the theory directly in your own work. For example, explore how you can use a model in your tasks or discuss with a colleague why certain actions are carried out in a particular way.”

The lecturer’s guidance is aimed at connecting theory and practice. Attention is also paid to the composition of the group to ensure the lessons align even better with the participants’ professional context.

Self‑study is essential

Self‑study is an important part of the Nevi 1 Private Sector programme. Good preparation not only makes the lessons easier to follow — it is also necessary to dive deeper into the material. Sabine explains how much time participants should reserve for self‑study per lesson: “On average, you’ll spend 3 to 5 hours on self‑study if you follow the evening programme. Participants in the daytime programme need around 6 to 10 hours per lesson.”

Learning together

During the programme, you benefit not only from the lecturer’s expertise but also from the knowledge and experience of your fellow participants. “You actively build a network within procurement while attending the lessons. It’s ideal to be able to spar with others about situations you encounter in your organisation,” says Sabine. The online learning environment provides additional support: it contains all assignments and course materials, and participants can also ask the lecturer questions there. Everything is designed to support you as effectively as possible in your learning journey.
