'I learned how to be a more effective leader, and that brings me peace of mind.'Huib Spit, Procurement Director at Ahrend
The world around us is constantly in development, from society, technology and the economy to geo-politics, government regulation and further. This has a direct impact on value chains, supply chains and supplier markets. To fortify your leadership position in this volatile world, a broad and strategic outlook on reality (particularly the reality of procurement) is essential. The Procurement Leadership Program enables you to deepen and broaden your outlook on the world.
CPOs from leading companies will share their insights during the program and help you find solutions for today’s greatly increased business and purchasing complexity. All of the knowledge you acquire in the Procurement Leadership Program is based on the latest scientific insights and enriched with lessons from professional practice. In other words, it’s a deep dive into procurement at C- level.
The Procurement Leadership Program has been specifically developed for senior professionals who have a leadership role to fulfill in today's turbulent procurement and supply chain management world. We enable these professionals to navigate their way through this turbulence. PLP combines groundbreaking insights with experiential learning to develop leaders who can think and act strategically and holistically. We stimulate our participants to meet today’s challenges head on, but also inspire them to shape the future with vision and integrity.
If this chimes with your ambitions, then PLP is the program for you.
• A thematic approach with explicit attention for sustainability & responsible leadership, supply/value chain orchestration and digital transformation;
• A strong focus on business impact: make it happen;
• Mentoring with a view to professional development alongside coaching geared towards personal development.
The Procurement Leadership Program is taught in Maastricht in collaboration with UMIO, the executive branch of Maastricht University School of Business and Economics (SBE), under the supervision of Program Director and Nevi Professor Frank Rozemeijer.
SBE is one of the best business schools according to the Financial Times Masters in Management Ranking 2024, and it is AACSB-, EQUIS-, and AMBA-accredited. The modules are taught by our professors, each of whom are internationally renowned in their field. Their expertise is backed by forward-thinking CPOs and other guest speakers who lead the way in their respective domains. Our unique mix of teachers combines with our groundbreaking curriculum to lay a solid foundation for making an impact.
The program consists of six content modules, supplemented with coaching and mentoring and a final project workshop, which will give you an extensive introduction to relevant management areas. A Value For Business workshop completes the package. The modules combine interactive discussions, real-life cases, group work and guest presentations. Each module has its own main theme:
1. Introduction PLP + Contextual & Responsible Leadership
2. Developing Sustainable Strategies
3. Developing New Future-proof Procurement Operating Models
4. Measuring & Managing Finance and Business Impact
5. Orchestrating Value Chains for Innovation
6. Implementing Change & Make it Happen
The first module is longer than the others, as it includes an extra 1.5-day introduction. Between the modules, you will take part in coaching and mentoring meetings, and work on your assignments and the final project. The results of the final projects are presented in a workshop setting. PLP culminates in a graduation ceremony.
The modules are taught in Maastricht from Wednesday thru Friday. In the evening, all participants have dinner together in Maastricht and there will also be time to relax.
A three-day study trip to Stockholm is part of the Procurement Leadership Program. In the Swedish capital, you will complete the module Managing Financial and Business Impact at the renowned Stockholm School of Economics. Our leading professor of Finance & Accounting and various guest speakers will share their latest insights with you. We will also take a look behind the scenes at a Swedish multinational.
PLP is an international program that is open to participants from all over the world. The program is taught in English.

Above you can read more about the details of the modules.
To obtain the PLP diploma, participants must obtain a passing grade for their assignments. Assessment is based on the following:
• The three essays (after every two modules you write an essay in which you apply professional leadership within the context of your own organization);
• The value-4-business team project (final report + presentation) in which you demonstrate professional and personal leadership within a self-chosen transformation issue;
• A reflective coaching report in which you demonstrate that your personal leadership has evolved;
• Six ‘take-away’ blogs (after each module you write a short blog on your take-aways from the module).
You cannot apply for exemptions from program elements.
In addition to valuable knowledge, the program will provide you with an equally valuable network of professional experts in your field. At least as important as the program itself is the network of fellow students you can fall back on.
This program demands an investment, in time, energy and financial resources. To make sure we’re on the same page when it comes to expectations, we use an intake procedure that consists of the following steps:
1. Orientation meeting with PLP recruiter
2. Submission of motivation for participation and résumé
3. Intake interview with PLP program director
4. Decision on admission
After admission, your registration can be finalized.
Please note: Silf- members can join the program for the same price as Nevi members.
