On 1 August, Leon Wenteler started as a junior buyer at Stork Gears & Services. One month later, he began the Procurement Talent Programme.

One of the lecturers from his minor sent him information about this new training programme. He applied and, through a recruiter, went through the selection process. This was followed by an interview with Stork’s CPO, John Veldhoen, and operations manager Jochem van der Laan. The participating companies also cover the cost of the programme for the upcoming procurement talent. “The combination of working and learning appealed to me after four years of studying only. The learning part comes down to roughly one day a week. And because participants come from four very different organisations, you get exposed to a wide range of procurement perspectives.” Leon definitely sees “a career in procurement for at least the next ten years. What the role and shape will be, we’ll see. For now, this programme really is the kick-start.”
